Come on out to the Last Concert Cafe on 4/19/08 for our 7th annual 420 Fest membership drive and fundraiser.
This year we will be having National NORML board member and host of "Weekday Legal" attorney Norm Kent. Dean Becker of the Cultural Baggage show will be MCing a night of activism and celebration.
The musical guests we have lined up in Liquidious, The New Jack Hippies, Kozmic Pearl, Lonestar Ponstar, Opie Hendrix and Sean Reefer with his Resin Valley Boys.
We'll also have arts and crafts from local merchants as well as door prizes and raffles to items autographed by Tommy Chong and NFL great Mark Stepnoski.
Doors open at 6pm so come on out to find out what you can do to help change marijuana laws in Texas. The Last Concert Cafe is located at 1403 Nance St just north of Downtown.

Resolution for 2008 primaries

For those voting in the Democrat or Republican primaries on 3/4/08 please bring this to your precinct convention on that night.
Resolution endorsing medical marijuana
Whereas, A large majority of Americans and Texans support allowing the use of marijuana as a medicine under appropriate medical supervision.
Whereas, The American College of Physicians (ACP) - the nation's largest organization of doctors of internal medicine with 124,000 members - strongly supported such use in February of 2008
WHEREAS, the Controlled Substances Act of 1970
categorized marijuana as a Schedule I substance making it unavailable for medical use; and,
WHEREAS, twelve states have laws that permit use of
medicinal marijuana/cannabis; and,
WHEREAS, marijuana/cannabis has a wide margin of
safety for use under medical supervision and is
effective for numerous conditions; therefore be it
RESOLVED that the Democratic/Republican Party of Texas supports and/or encourages the following:
1. Research in controlled investigational trials on
the therapeutic efficacy of marijuana/cannabis,
including alternative methods of administration.
2. The right of patients to have safe access to
therapeutic marijuana/cannabis under appropriate
medical supervision.
3. The ability of health care providers to discuss
and/or recommend the medicinal use of marijuana
without the threat of intimidation or penalization.
4. Legislation to remove criminal penalties including
arrest and imprisonment for bona fide patients and
providers of therapeutic marijuana/cannabis.
5. Federal and state legislation to exclude
marijuana/cannabis from classification as
a Schedule I drug.
6. The education of medical professionals regarding
current, evidence-based therapeutic use of marijuana/cannabis.
